BEHIND THE SCENES IN FRAGRANCE
On Thursday 12th September 2019 we hosted The Fragrance Foundation Academy Training: Behind the Scenes in Fragrance. This training morning offers a behind the scenes look into the world of fragrance and how they are created, with exclusive access to influential presenters to help you consider how to approach your next successful launch, and gain a deeper understanding as to how the industry works.
100% of the attendees stated that after the Behind The Scenes training they had a better understanding and knowledge of the fragrance industry!
The training started with NPD Group's Clotilde Draper, Senior Business Analyst! The purpose of this session was to set the scene of the fragrance industry and the state of the market today. This gave attendees greater inisght into the challenges they face when launching their new fragrances.
Catherine Mitchell, Business Development Manager from IFF, hosted a session on how fragrances houses work, with an indepth look at the importance of a good brief & the communication of the fragrance idea. We looked at the communication of Pricing, Timings, Feedback, Regulatory Requirements, Stability Testing, Selection Procedure with regular interaction from all our attendees.
Following IFF was IFRA's Julie Young, this session explained to the deligates the challenges that perfumers face when looking to launch a fragrance. We looked at IFRA's role and purpose in the industry when perfume houses consider launch, including the standards and safety measures around perfumery.
After this session Givaudan's Global Finance Director - Alison Harrington. Alison provided us with insight into what it means to be an Evaluator and how key this job is to the world of perfumery... acting as the glue between the creation, client and consumer! Givaudan's presentation also highlighted the key skills that are invovled in a fragrance Evaluators job and exactly what a day-in-the-life looks like.
Our training finished with presentations from Giovanna Aicardi: Brand Partner & Fragrance Developer for Map of the Heart, Fragrance Foundation UK Award winner 2019 and Imogen Russon-Taylor owner and devloper of Kingdom Scotland, Fragrance Foundation UK 2019 finalist. These are two individuals who have realised their fragrant dreams, overcome all the challenges discussed in the training, and succesfully launched within the UK. It was fascinating to hear their stores, understand how they work and what inspires their creativity.
