Fragrance Education

Courses

Among the Foundation's educational accomplishments is the introduction in 1992 of the Certified Fragrance Sales Specialists Programme and the formation of a Certification Board to conduct an annual examination. The CFSS programme is now internet-based and has recently been extended to the UK and Australia. Graduates receive a Certificate and a CFSS pin. At university level the Foundation supports New York's Fashion Institute of Technology's Bachelor of Science degree course, which features a Fragrance and Cosmetics Marketing Programme.

The courses available through education and training organizations are:

  • EFCM (European Fragrance and Cosmetics Masters degree) run by ISIPCA at the University of Versailles, in partnership with the university of Padua.
This is a two year post-grad. course. See ISIPCA website for details.

  • Information on the new IFEAT Diploma in Aroma Trade Studies (Perfumery), together with the application form is now available.  The programme has been fully revised and up-dated.  The new course syllabus and content has been evolved from two years consultation with industry and discussions with the IFEAT Education Committee.  The original syllabus, although up-dated a number of times, was developed over twenty years ago. The new 2009 syllabus reflects the major changes that have taken place in the Aroma Trades. The new syllabus has been developed in consultation with IFEAT and the British Society of Perfumers.  Existing modules have been fully revised to reflect developments within the industry. Given its increased importance, a new module ‘Marketing in the Aroma Trades’ has been developed. This covers both business to business marketing (aroma materials producers and creative houses) and the ultimate driver of demand, the consumer marketing environment. The course will continue to run under the academic leadership of Dr. Tony Curtis who has over 40 years of experience in the Aroma Trades.Preliminary registration will be possible in November 2008 and the programme is due to commence in February 2009.
