THE FRAGRANCE FOUNDATION UK
FiFi AWARDS 2011
The ‘Oscar’s’ of the fragrance industry, the 2011 FiFi Awards, took place on the evening of Thursday, 14th April at Banqueting House, one of London’s historic palaces.
The star-studded event was attended by almost 400 industry guests including a host of celebrities such as Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Beverley Knight, Blue and Jason Gardiner, who enjoyed a champagne reception in the event’s elegant Undercroft room before they were seated for a sumptuous Gala Awards dinner.
TV personality, George Lamb, compered the evening’s ceremony, held in support of the industry’s charity Look Good…Feel Better, and singing sensation, Sophie Ellis-Bextor, provided the entertainment.
The welcoming presentation was given by The Fragrance Foundation UK’s Chairman, Peter Norman, who proudly stated that this major event is celebrating its 19th anniversary. He continued by explaining how the industry has grown and survived by the creation of wonderful products. “These days, the word ‘new’ is key and although by no means a guarantee of success with, according to Mymarketmonitor, over 600 new launches last year, the word certainly attracts the attention of the retailers, especially when linked to a large TV and media budget! Furthermore, the bedrock of our success is the tremendous service offered all through the supply chain ending with our wonderful consultants selling to the public and ensuring they come back for more.”
Peter gave a special welcome to Linda Key who is The Fragrance Foundation’s new Executive Director, to Lorraine Wilson-Morris and the esprit team, who have been appointed to take over the day-to-day running of the Fragrance Foundation. The success of the evening was a tribute to the hard work of the Fragrance Foundation Award’s Committee.
The Certified Fragrance Sales Specialist winner with a score 94% went to Caroline Bosacato from The Perfume Shop in Reading
For the last two years, the Fragrance Foundation has presented a special FiFi Award for innovative marketing and promotion of the industry. This year’s award went to Emma Hockley, Perfume and Cosmetics Buyer, Harrods and Fragrance Expert, Roja Dove, for bringing us The Perfume Diaries, a wonderful celebration of the fragrance industry and its history - an exhibition and museum which attracted over 37,000 visitors.

Meanwhile, there were 15 award categories and the evening culminated with the announcement that Gucci Guilty had been chosen as Best New Prestige Fragrance for Women and Bleu de Chanel had won the male category.
