Sir Paul Smith: Honoured as the first member of the UK Circle of Champions
On Monday 26th November 2007 at Claridges, The Fragrance Foundation UK honoured Sir Paul Smith as the first member of the UK 'Circle of Champions'.
The Circle of Champions is an initiative set up by the US Fragrance Foundation to pay tribute to individuals who have made a notable and newsworthy contribution to the fragrance industry. This is the first year that this initiative has been awarded in the UK.
The first person to receive the honour in the US in 2000 was Leonard Lauder, Guy Peyrelongue of L'Oreal in 2001, Annette Green, retired President of the Fragrance Foundation USA in 2002, Dale Cameron from Nordstrom in 2003, Peter Born of Women's Wear Daily in 2004, Tom Florio from Vogue in 2005 and Ann Gottlieb in 2006 and John G. Ledes of Beauty Fashion and Cosmetic World in 2007.
Paul Smith launched ‘Paul Smith Men’ and ‘Paul Smith Women’ as his first fragrances in June 2000. This was followed by Extreme in 2002, London in 2004, Floral in 2005 and Story in 2006. Most recently Sir Paul Smith launched Paul Smith Rose in 2007; based on the rose his wife Pauline cultivated with botanist Peter Beales last year for Paul’s special birthday.
